First published in 1946, History of Western Philosophy went on to become the best-selling philosophy book of the twentieth century. 评分我理解的哲学，是人类对自身，对自身所存在的这个宇宙进行孜孜不倦地探索和反思的spirit，而不仅仅是某些大哲学家构建起来的思想体系。哲学和科学不可分，但又不完全重合。古希腊最开始的哲学探索，就是和科学探索结合在一起的。哲学的decay始于苏格拉底。因为从他开始，哲学渐渐局限于伦理，而失落了对自然万物的广阔好奇。 正因为哲学是一种spirit，所以最好的入门书籍是哲学史。罗素的哲学史在这方面是极好的典范。他引导读者探索的，首先是这种spirit——把哲学家放在一个更广博的历史文化背景下去理解和考察，他们如何局限于自己的时代，又如何能超越自己的时代。他拥有犀利的vision，能把复杂的东西讲得清晰简单，语言流畅又平易近人，是极好的引路人。:)
评分就恨罗素没活到今天，要是能让他把自己死之后的那些个新玩意儿也写写就好了！
