With an enriched overall review of the history of science and philosophy of science, the book written in easily-comprehensible English is recommended to both academic and layman readers, although I find the author's critique of Popper is weak and unconvincing and his putting economy and sociology into the category of science is highly questionable

在多大看完的.平时关注实验和数据比较多,所以里面讨论太过理论的部分并没有触动我.印象比较深刻的算是最后部分讨论科学和宗教的.

科学家的地位颇似婆罗门——知识和真理的垄断者，被贴上科学标签的事物都招来盲目崇拜。有何不可？科学是最直接的现世利益提供者，“信科学，得至乐”的概念深得人心一点都不奇怪。但是，科学家掌握的知识是否真正反映了客观现实？追随者出于私欲的深信不疑跟科学强调的价值中立（value-free）是否冲突？科学探索方法本身局限性能否引领人走向真理？这些问题，哲学家更有发言权。有哲学家对人类知识下过最狠的诅咒“认识永远是有条件的，是受有限之经验制约的，如果理性把相对的、有限的经验绝对化，自以为已经把握了整体、全部或无限，就会陷入一种假象。”某种意义上，哲学是科学崇拜狂潮中最后的清明和良心。
