“自然”是盧梭政治哲學的基礎。然而,不論是在《論不平等》還是在《愛彌兒》中,盧梭闡釋自然這一概念時,他都把剝去“社會性”的因素剩下的部分稱之為“自然”,這使得“自然”這個概念不甚明瞭。自然狀態是盧梭的一種設想,並非曆史時期。《論不平等》盧梭給我們展示瞭他對於自然狀態及自然人的構想,在《愛彌兒》他試圖提供一種教育,使得人即使生活在社會中也能夠盡可能地接近“自然”,像自然人一樣生活。自然與社會的衝突是盧梭政治哲學的齣發點。

Emile find Sophie,what brings them together is their difference. Emile has to idealize Sophie,should not possess her right now. It is man's weakness which makes him sociable.It is our common miseries which turn our hearts to humanity. Pity is sweet.
