作者作為psycho-therapist和“patient”兩個雙重身份講故事，讀書的過程中看著幾個谘詢者一點點在修補著自己，不論是對錯過的遺憾，童年的不幸，對未來的恐懼，還是麵對人生失去的可能性，學習到瞭好多智慧，瞭解每個人的痛苦沒有分級，與自我的和解，self love and compassion，有很多值得沉澱的東西。Julie 和John 的兩段故事都被感動哭瞭

跟Mr.stupid相反，我非常願意甚至有點兒過度錶達自己不愉快的童年，不僅樂意承認它給我造成的傷害甚至會把它作為藉口逃避一些不愉快的選擇。看這本書很受啓發，跟自己和解，更能想明白自己跟愛人的關係，不應該從他身上獲取情感，應該是互相分享。跟作者一樣，不願意承認，但隱約還是被年齡在催促擔憂焦慮，埋的夠深而已。童年的問題要懂得脫敏，要珍惜自己。我以前總覺得找therapist尋求幫助不適閤我是因為我不可能信任對方，沒法真心袒露，看這本書明白瞭therapist能把人剝開，是在幾乎等於鬥爭的過程中幫助客戶（不是患者），不配閤的客戶有對應的手段。沒看這本書之前我真的沒認識到其實年齡的變化給我帶來瞭同樣的焦慮，很多時候的懊惱跟做決策的糾結都受那個我之前沒聽到的聲音影響，擔心自己經不起摺騰瞭。
