我心爱的新文化史和历史社会学终于汇合了，文化的历史社会学（cultural historical sociology）这一提法被正式提出来啦。Lynn Hunt等大佬开始强调新文化史研究不应该以牺牲或抛弃社会史或历史社会学的分析为代价。导论里只字未提“新文化史”，而笼统地称之为“文化转向”。后记特意让Hayden White来撰写，亦是有意之举呢～

文化是什么？社会是什么？这些概念需要被重新整理，这个是”后现代理论“的口号。不过Sewell所提出的将文化看做是既是系统其实跟哈贝马斯的做法是类似的。在”文化“这个领域里面分出层次来这些也是前人都已经做了的了。但是后现代理论还是有其市场，符号与话语，颠覆以及结构，这些游戏的价值对于每个个体是重要的，但是对于一个社会学家而言真的不大。后者的任务还得是解释，解释为什么意义问题突然变成一个大家都关心的热点，同时也得面对理论者如何在这样的思想潮流中辨别自己这一问题。我另外奇怪一点是universal从来没存在过，当然不需要被解构嘛，，，，另外这学科分工是越来越细了，也真不是什么好事。

是时候停止文化转向了。在关注sociocultural的笼统问题上加入“历史”的编排仅仅能把这个社会/文化概念变成一个可供分析的资源而非分析性的资源。诸位重视Bourdieu但仍不够，Sewell&Biernacki从他来，前者在改进中对立，后者直接借用其概念。其余文章的好处是，能让我们看到没咋发过作品的Biernacki在那时候到底有何争论，这对梳理一个广义文化概念——从人类学那种发源到布大爷的对立——非常有用。（也能看出那时候人们那么重视宏大的统摄性理论哦...）
