作者是上座部的研究學者，書中也大量引用巴利經典；但本書大部分內容以佛教各支共有的基本教義為主，四聖諦和無我的章節寫得非常好，解釋瞭我很多此前有的疑惑，是接下去閱讀尼柯耶很好的參考。
