著者简介

乔纳森•贝特，华威大学教授，主要研究方向为莎士比亚和文艺复兴时期的文学。主要著有《莎士比亚的天赋》（1997）以及一部关于莎士比亚的深度传记《时代的灵魂》（2008），后者从伊丽莎白女王时期的文化背景出发，分析了莎士比亚的思想历程。他创作的《约翰•克莱尔传》（2003）获得了英国历史最悠久的两大文学奖项：霍桑登奖和詹姆斯•泰特•布莱克奖。

开头部分章节活泼极了，后面就有点dumb down。读完之后，自觉对英国文学并没有一个比较清晰的印象，不推荐作为入门书。

不建议当入门书看作者预设读者已经对欧洲英国文化背景有基本了解我自己觉得大篇幅放在了探讨“英国” 而不是“文学”上加上举例批判理论的方式和表达都比较英国白男看得我脑袋一抽一抽已经入门当快速的梳理还有一点用但是如果阅读感受非常流畅的话又没必要看这本书了
