我挺喜欢这本书的，尤其Hershel兄妹那几章。上课时老师不断强调这是本trade book trade book trade book, 把它与学术著作分得很开，我不否认这本书受到其目标受众的限制，但至少我所追求的所谓学术，没有这么严格的专业与科普的界限，这种界限抹灭的恰是amateur所体现的对事物本真的热爱，而这种热爱也恰是the age of wonder中所有主人公的共性。

算是一本科普读物，不过作者除此之外写的是柯勒律治和雪莱的传记。。。但是写得确实好看

说实话，这本书才看了将近一半就迫不及待地上网来评价，不为别的，只为暴永宁先生高超的翻译水准，译著行文流畅且文采斐然，还有对原著所没有的大量英语世界的文化背景补充，比如对"自然神学"的解释，对大量英文人名的注释，甚至还有对'失乐园'中诗句的介绍等等，实在令人钦佩...
