著者简介

Christopher Isherwood was born in 1904. He began to write at university and later moved to Berlin, where he gave English lessons to support himself. He witnessed first hand the rise to power of Hitler and the Nazi party in Germany and some of his best works, such as Mr. Norris Changes Trains and Goodbye to Berlin, draw on these experiences. He created the character of Sally Bowles, later made famous as the heroine of the musical Cabaret. Isherwood travelled with W.H Auden to China in the late 1930s before going with him to America in 1939. He died on 4 January 1986.

That I who denied the literal value of this book must be an idiot. Isherwood created a rainbow or une oeuvre multicolore of an enigmatic daily life or a crystal-clear certain death. Love is the beginning of the end; it's as long as life, as cold and sweet as death; it ends with a bubble of silence: the only buzz echoing in a dying heart.

i was literally crying, when I was watching this movie....it was way artistic with those slow motion reflecting the protagonist's mind....but i somehow understood his agony.

在12年、15年与18年三次完整的细读，伴随着更多对Isherwood的了解与自己渐长的年纪，自然每次的阅读体验与其引发的思考各不相同。A Single Man几乎是一本总在我心尖的书，时常要去翻找书中的某一段落，时常随身带出门。我确实感觉自己和Chris之间有种亲密的关系，在情绪低落时寻求与他的共鸣，心神不宁时需要他的安抚，举棋不定时旁观他的选择...对他大概没有敬仰的情绪，而是来自同谋的惺惺相惜、晚辈全然的信任，自深深处的喜爱。
