这本书横跨的时间比上部要短，只有一代人。但因为主角是女性背景是中世纪的英国，情节反而曲折的多也苦涩的多。操蛋的领主操蛋的修士操蛋的骑士操蛋的法律操蛋的战争操蛋的王权，所以黑死病的到来竟然是巨大的希望，因为这时所有人都平等了。
评分食完 ++关于黑死病灭掉三分之一英国人口之后，自由劳工工资暴涨，爱德华3强制限制工资，农民与领主之间由在领主土地上义务劳动改为交租金，这些内容水平还行，虽然没有特别有趣。 +作为自治组织的行会和繁荣的工商业 +批判了一下父权社会 +写了一点点（非常短）的百年战争，聊胜于无吧 ———情节非常及其特别松散，不连贯而且缺少各种悬念转折 ——时间线拖的太特么长了，配角都换了好几波，而且越来越虎头蛇尾 ——男主角Merthin不够有特色，女主Caris为了强行留在修道院有很多牵强的转折。 ——Gwenda的感情线过于鹅心，真的从贫困家里出来的，人很机灵很有体力，也有反抗意志的女孩子不去闷声发大财，居然变成爱情白痴。而且她选人的眼光。。。 —Ralph完全可以有更多的发挥空间
