Life is extraordinary until tragedy strikes, leaving one brother severely brain-damaged and the other lost and virtually orphaned in a strange land. Ajay, the family’s younger son, prays to a God he envisions as Superman, longing to find his place amid the ruins of his family’s new life.

firstly i don’t think this is cliche:) it depicts a mundane but somehow melodramatic life how an Indian immigrant family experienced in America. the language Akhil used is simple and subtle, leaving space for readers feeling detached but sometimes closely linked as well. this is contradictory yet appealing. i really appreciate it

评分此书真是英语阅读障碍者的福音，我花了一天一口气就看完了整本小说，简直行云流水…故事的前五分之一充斥了小清新的少年日常生活，直到哥哥出了事，气氛直转而下，变得愈来愈沉重。作者结合了主人公青少年时期敏感的心理活动，将琐碎的日常生活刻画的很细腻。书中还多处描写了印度人的宗教信仰和习俗，令人耳目一新。
