两个家族的历史，克里特岛麻风病的历史。情节本来跟跌宕，但语言略平淡，可能是叙述太多描写太少吧。印象最深的竟然是Alexis听完家族史后对Ed的决断。

看这本书完全受宣传影响--“感动了整个欧洲的小说”结果没有感动我半点，反而觉得作者的处女作读起来很生硬，用词不亲切。很想渲染气氛却又找不到切入点，有点故弄玄虚的感觉。再有故事太老套了，其实想想聚集着一群麻风病的一个小岛，不能只单纯的谈岛上的生活，所以作者拓展，结果德军什么的都来了
