评分题为“白话小说”,但从内容看应为“话本小说”更为妥当。总体还是以西方叙事学的思路去考察中国小说,尤以第一章关于“文学分析的六大层次”的论述值得注意,即:说话者、焦点、谈话型、风格(又分为地方语言和通行语言)、意义(又分为系列、构造和解释)、语音。虽与中国叙事学的框架未必尽合,却也不失为一个独特的视角。对于文言小说与白话小说之差异这部分的论述也可参考。
