海明威是“硬漢”不假，然而硬漢的內心深處溫柔而充滿柔情，這體現在他對愛情人物的描寫上，這不是今天所謂的“暖男”可以同日而語的（因為我贊同“暖男是男人中的綠茶婊之說），由於海明威做過戰地記者緣故，他的小說語言很是簡練、樸實，沒有過多的修辭，以及深奧的哲理名詞，讓人讀起來酣暢淋灕。

比Ford Madox Ford容易接受得多的行文。難忘Sordo在麵臨死亡之際想著：I have never seen a volcano. 敘述風格從一而終但前1/3真的拖遝，後麵每一章都比上一章厲害，整體來看還是很完美的作品 // 比wings of the dove好看多瞭！
