风格上其实很几年前网络上盛极一时的同志小说没啥区别。但念在这是1940年代的作品，算是回顾美国LGBT史吧

行文简洁，读起来非常流畅。和我国现在的LGBT类小说调调很像（落后了70年，或许还不止????），但更克制，也更绵长。需要电子版的书友，请豆邮！

小说的历史意义确实很重要。Wikipedia上说这是二战后第一部正面 [非负面] 描写男同性恋而且不以主角被处死而结尾的小说。词句朴实不华丽，情节也简单不煽情。结尾感觉有点刻意有点牵强，整个故事波澜不惊，但读起来也还是很舒服。
