從馬剋思說到由馬剋思衍生的曼海姆、葛蘭西、阿爾都塞，到人類學、闡釋學、語言學，形態學、政治哲學（中間就略瞭後來連福柯和拉康齊澤剋都齣來瞭）。本來是本著解疑答惑看的，結果隻看到學術大全，最後看著看著鬱悶鬱卒瞭也不想知道是咋迴事瞭。。

這本小冊子實際上是為意識形態(ideology)做的辯護。Ideology在當代有被汙名化的傾嚮，在中文權裏甚至有個略有貶義的翻譯“意蒂牢結”，代錶著非理性的偏見。Freeden花瞭100多頁篇幅其實就錶達瞭一個核心觀點：沒有意識形態就不會有政治，所以我們要正確的認識它。第八章對後現代主義/後結構主義的批判很精彩，但比較抽象，不太容易讀懂。

介紹瞭馬剋思，曼海姆，葛蘭西到阿爾都塞等人對 ideology 的看法，後續把 liberalism, conservatism 等都歸屬於 ideology，並且介紹瞭形態學（沒看懂），discourse analysis 在這個議題上的分析方法，還是能幫助瞭解可以如何去研究 ideology
