福柯對曆史學研究，曆史學書寫的影響不言而喻。然而這本書也沒有達到introduction中所說的希望對福柯的曆史學研究方法甚至福柯的曆史主義的反思。個人興趣而言，值得一看的有第二章Foucault on sexuality in Greco-Roman Antiquity;以及最後一張problematization as a mode of reading history。
