讀的17版，學美國史目前最佳的嚮導性和框架性的書是這本（中英文都包括），SAT2和APUSH公認的最佳書目（前提是備考時間充裕），書中曆史觀點非常紮實（細部會有學術性的再批評），彆看是教科書，裏麵有相當的內容中文都未曾引入翻譯介紹，維基中文也多半沒有。本書配圖（地理配圖和人物）尤其豐富——這對初學者理解曆史因果頗為重要，比那些隻講文本的教科書強很多，大大有助於建構曆史想象。

一韆頁美國史終於看完瞭：文字優美敘事【相當】有趣內容充實安排清晰；應該算是如今的主流史觀而不忽略對其他觀點的提及（每一章Varying Viewpoints）最後展望未來時的感動啊：”Democratic institutions are never done; they are like living tissue, always a-making. It is a strenuous thing, this of living the life of a free people.”（威爾遜的“天真”&理想主義）請一直希望&相信&努力下去——

當年備考apush的時候看的書很厚很詳細文筆太好用詞太浮誇以至於我覺得作者有賣弄的嫌疑但是真的是最喜歡看的書什麼時候隻要連續不斷看一個小時就能立刻靜下心來現狀第二遍看想為SAT做準備
