Carlo Rovelli,
an Italian theoretical physicist, is the head of the quantum gravity group at the Centre de Physique Théorique of Aix-Marseille Université. He is one of the founders of the loop quantum gravity theory and the author of the international bestseller Seven Brief Lessons on Physics. Rovelli lives in Marseille, France.

非常喜歡。作者對德謨剋利特的推崇很好理解,神吹但丁就有點過於萌瞭。這本書這麼對我口味大概也與我工作有關,感覺工作越久就越執著於一個unified design,一個coherent explanation。Who knows. Maybe it will turn out that things work best without any general model behind them. Hope we can live with that too.

评分書的前半部分由Democritus講至Einstein,可能我先前讀過好幾本物理科普都不超過這個範圍,所以讀起來挺輕鬆易懂。——”懂”僅指字麵含義上讀懂瞭作者所說的話,但不包括背後原理及推演過程乃至應用層麵的含義。書的後半部分著重於loop quantum gravity,就真的有點難瞭,需要多瞭解一點費曼圖和黎曼函數的基本知識。 作者的文風還是很棒的,科普書裏麵不亂給比喻真是難能可貴。雖然作者引用瞭Einstein說的,想象一下軟體動物般的柔性參考體係,覺得這畫麵感尤其尷尬,我想到的都是做成瞭食物的魷魚花。一個“好的”公式應當(簡潔優美到)能在一件T-shirt上寫完,下次可以不穿E=mC^2 這麼常見的啦。
