评分科学建制后，科研作为一种职业早已走下神坛走出象牙塔，这本书为如何走好科研职业生涯提供了很多“实用主义”的建议，从就业、如何tenured，到如何写申请书、做什么样的项目发什么样的论文……在科研圈竞争白热化的今天，其中的很多已经成为常识。做软科学的和做硬科学的人应该会有不同的读后感，对我而言，其中关于大学与科研机构差异的论述是意外收获。（另，作者是个很有趣且科研经历丰富的人）

评分基本上就是要告诉博士生或者博士后在学术界的生存之道。将年轻的导师说得一无是处，几乎让人认为他们全都是生意人，下属全部是他们的筹码，年轻导师都是朝三暮四没有条理的安排工作，经验不丰富，不能给读博士者更多的自由，也不让他们有更大的发展空间。年老的导师却心如止水，可以将机会让给后辈，以手下的成就为自己的骄傲=。= 这样在理论上仿若做梦的书，怎么会有这么多人认可....虽然实际也有这样的情况，但学术界的处世之道并非都是如此的..导师和博士们都自重吧
