这本书非常牛逼，写的磅礴大气又很有趣，唯一的缺点可能就是翻译的不是太好，句子不是很符合中国人阅读的习惯。这个作者还写过一本《the distant mirror》,可惜还没有被翻译过来。

十颗星。这本书又一次raise了我English reading的bar! 每天都沐浴在历史的回肠荡气中上下班...Hindenburg被任命到东线战场和Joffre最终说服英国人去支援马恩河的那两段读的我快原地炸裂, truly shivering for mankind...还想接着读后四年的故事but I guess that won’t be so dramatic or decisive.
