著者簡介

Jonathan Harr lives and works in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he has taught nonfiction writing at Smith College. He is a former staff writer at New England Monthly and has written for The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine.

Harr spent nine years researching and writing A Civil Action, which was published in 1995, subsequently nominated for a National Book Award, and awarded the National Book Critics Circle Award.

之前上課讀完the Buffalo disaster老師就推薦瞭這本，說不是每一個案子都伸張正義瞭，這個就輸的很慘，破産的主角還來我們學校演講過。。。。終於抽空讀瞭寫的真好。。。

The most intriguing and compelling litigation story I have ever read. 整個感恩節都在讀的一本書，也是各大法學院的必讀，沒讀過簡直不好意思說自己pre-law。在法庭上無法獲得的正義，讓全社會，讓曆史來重新審判。

4.5。本學期完成的第二本閱讀教材。最後那段真是。。。一個人是要被什麼摧毀的過程中纔有可能意識到存在的真相的。被摧毀而未消亡，就有可能抵達真正的自己。很殘酷。所幸他遊嚮深海之後，最後還是迴來瞭。

下半年入P大国际法学院，这本是导师推荐的入学前需要读完的第一本书,算是对美国法律体系是怎么运作的初步印象吧，导师强调的还是解决问题的思维而不是法律条文。另外的一本的是To Kill A Mockingbird.

在看虚构写作里面提到了这部，这个奇怪的译名让我好找。 看到三分之一 关于法律知识和实物有点了解，比如律师是如何开展工作的，如何攻击对手的，的确是个吸血，变相敲诈的行当哈哈哈哈，不过也算利益再分配的一种方式吧，特别是伤人赔偿这一环，可能特别有行侠仗义感 写作方面...

书看完的一些感受： 1、在法律保障基本人权方面，我们与美国还差50年的距离。1970年代的美国民事诉讼，原被告的证人都可以在人身安全得到保障的前提下、没有负担地参与诉讼，在法院工作人员的见证下，接受双方询问，以期尽可能接近事实真相，不会被对方威胁、不用担心被报复。...
