Fitzgerald的译本，听完了大表哥的有声书……

Great Book Seminar第一本书，总算是对古希腊有了深入的了解。觉得荷马真的太伟大，仅靠脑子记和搜集各种吟游诗人的故事整理出来了这本书，不过好可惜24章以后都遗失了。对于书中英雄们对于生死的坦荡真是佩服，不过也觉得被神主宰命运是一件可悲的事。

故事讲得有些冗长，但言语很是有点意思，特别是固定模式的形容词（epithet) 给那些“大人物”们——grey eyed (athena), ivory-armed (Hera), fleet-foot (Akhilleus)，总让我不由自主地想起《水浒传》里面那些好汉的外号。说到社会依然摆脱不了“抢夺资源的战争”，而“英雄”们前赴后继，在所不辞，只不过哪些性格如孩子般多变们的神们如果敢真正放下身段和我们人类玩，准被我们玩死。

So they performed the funeral rites of Hektor, tamer of horses. 读到最后一行感觉全身的力气都被抽走了，因为这本书太长，永生在史诗里的人物太鲜活。Hektor最后还是没能驯服自己的命运。不过他输给Akhilleus是应该的，不怕死的人才能无顾忌的杀人，但懂得害怕的人远比莽夫高贵。
