textbook for senior seminar on Asian modern history. 非常不喜歡這本書，完全不按正常的曆史材料分析的方式來寫，特彆不正常。以中國人角度來說，就是不知所雲！

事件，经历，抑或是神话，柯文一体三面的解读了义和团，令人印象深刻。这里使用“解读”似乎有些不太准确，因为用他的话来说，作为一个历史学家，他尽量让自己贴近事件的当下，解读总有些后期矫饰的意味。这本书表面上是在讲述义和团，而事实上它更像是一本关于历史学者工作态...
