从一张桌子讲开认识论和形而上学，篇幅短又接地气，写得挺精彩。整本书继承康德、莱布尼茨、笛卡尔的成果，把人类的知识区分为事物的知识和真理的知识，前者包含感官知识和描述知识，后者包含直觉知识和衍生知识。罗素论述了人类的知识体系如何由极少的先验知识为前提而逐步发展而来，而我们又如何确信这一事业的合理性。最后他强调了哲学的批判性和开放性，指出其价值在于赋予思考对象无限的可能而非单一确定的答案。哲学研究中独立、跳出框架的思考方式才是真正的人类文明之光。
