Interspersed with these simply told, affecting stories of suffering, Delisle deftly and often drolly recounts the quotidian: crossing checkpoints, going kosher for Passover, and befriending other stay-at-home dads with NGO-employed wives.

需要边读边查wiki，理解难度明显比<平壤>和<缅甸>大，特别是节日历史人物地区方面。这个区域的冲突无药可救了，宗教真是个麻烦的事务，将正常人的逻辑思维能力都抹去，只剩下对理想国的飘渺憧憬和对异教徒的无情驱赶。即使升级成家庭主夫，画面里还是充斥着孤单的宅，到哪依然是个局外人。

《you-know-nothing奶爸在东耶路撒冷的懵逼日常》一个标准的western outsider视角。好在不entitled、不patronizing、preconceived idea很少：「assuming nothing and drawing everything」。可以从quotidian details以小见大。比起Sarah Glidden，作者既没有身份包袱，也没有站队需求，都没做什么额外的文化历史功课，所以哪怕随老婆派遣的时间比Glidden的birthright trip长、接触以色列社会面广，也还是写得隔岸看花，更不要提有什么有意义的心路历程。意外的惊喜：偶尔有些laugh-out-loud humour。个别章结尾处的留白。叙事随机，却节奏很好。

耶路撒冷无疑是最适合讨论世界主义的地点之一，但是真的要在历史与现实的仇恨和对立中说这些，又显得虚妄矫情和（反转的）西方中心。作者倒也算明白人，“年纪越大越斯多葛”，在文化猎奇中找些普世的小温馨，挺好的。

看了开头几页，包括封面和扉页的推荐语，觉得好可爱呀。忍不住想象作者家的小朋友的经历、见识会多丰富有趣。2018年10月29日开始读。
