In Central Asia in World History, Peter B. Golden provides an engaging account of this important region, ranging from prehistory to the present, focusing largely on the unique melting pot of cultures that this region has produced over millennia. Golden describes the traders who braved the heat and cold along caravan routes to link East Asia and Europe; the Mongol Empire of Chinggis Khan and his successors, the largest contiguous land empire in history; the invention of gunpowder, which allowed the great sedentary empires to overcome the horse-based nomads; the power struggles of Russia and China, and later Russia and Britain, for control of the area. Finally, he discusses the region today, a key area that neighbors such geopolitical hot spots as Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and China.

一百四十页的小史只能packed with names，读了两章就开始记笔记不然读着就丢了；两门CEUS的课都上成了区域研究的概览，估计三次quiz就干掉了一波没有任何语言准备的学生，做中亚史的老师历史训练都是自己acquired? 快期末了也不知道纪行文学怎么当文学文本来读(本身就是个假命题？)，还是找篇老师的论文看好了。

jadid建立了横跨欧亚穆教团体的联系，奥斯曼帝国与中亚穆教徒的思想交流，以及奥斯曼帝国在中亚知识分子中的想象与认知还需要更多探讨。尤其是其在xj扮演的角色，在潘志平的几篇论文中有所涉及。巴尔干地区的土耳其人及其他穆教徒在这场运动中的参与也值得关注。有意思的是，几行文字也提到了在清和民国时期西部的revolts中，武器弹药的运输经由英属印度，3大Е-turk人物也在阿富汗有过逗留，可以透过当代uy人将Pakistan作为活动的一座桥头堡与世界性活动相连，以及后00时代revolts与Taliban的接触来猜测他们在南亚也许早有了情报网络与活动中心。期待这方面的后世作品。

我……终于看完了这一本…… 感觉对中亚有一些了解了，但还是迷迷糊糊的。因为以前没有接触过，所以果然这一本书只是交给我一些基础知识吧，更深入的了解要再去读其他的书。还有三本书要看……

一字一句地读完了英文版。这是一部非常优秀的作品，严谨，客观，又不失趣味。这种平衡难以把握，作者却做到了。感谢这个世界还有这么好的书。
