作為隻有百餘頁的簡明希臘史能有這樣大的廣度是值得稱贊的，按照傳統的希臘史敘事12個城邦恐怕就隻剩下一半瞭吧（剋諾索斯、邁锡尼、斯巴達、雅典、忒拜和敘拉古，亞曆山大裏亞？不存在的）。當然由於篇幅限製各個城邦都隻能點到為止，基本的史實框架似乎也有一點不太清楚，在VSI係列中不算特彆優秀的著作但也不必強求。
