作为只有百余页的简明希腊史能有这样大的广度是值得称赞的，按照传统的希腊史叙事12个城邦恐怕就只剩下一半了吧（克诺索斯、迈锡尼、斯巴达、雅典、忒拜和叙拉古，亚历山大里亚？不存在的）。当然由于篇幅限制各个城邦都只能点到为止，基本的史实框架似乎也有一点不太清楚，在VSI系列中不算特别优秀的著作但也不必强求。
