看瞭作者的公開課纔找來讀的書，說來慚愧，開始讀這本書隻是為瞭更好地理解保守主義對中世紀社會的稱贊，但是讀完瞭反而覺得曆史的細節自有妙趣。比如妻子在傢庭生活中所扮演的角色，基督教倫理對夫妻關係的塑造，經濟的發展和行政的變動對於當地社區的影響，教育對階級融閤的促進等等，感覺曆史的闡釋（？）好像一個 The Gettier Problem（話又說迴來，五十年代保守主義對中世紀的懷念真是嫁接齣來的果實。
