著者简介

查尔斯·波蒂斯（Charles Portis），生于1933年，当代美国小说名家。曾参加朝鲜战争，退伍后进入大学，攻读新闻专业。毕业后从事了六年的记者工作，一度专注于报道当时风起云涌的民权运动。1964年从报社辞职，自此专注于小说创作，迄今出版了五部长篇小说，并在《大西洋月刊》上发表了多部短篇作品。

Courage under fire. But who has true grit on earth? The 14-year-old Mattie vowing to avenge her father's death, or the Marshal helping her track down the murderer on the run, or, a third option, the reader having enough pluck to pick it up with high expectations but only to find it a letdown?

unlikely friendship between a little girl and an old man. 前几年读过几章就没兴趣了。后来重温生活大爆炸的时候，sheldon 偶然提了一嘴 true grit。就打算来看看。200 来页的一本小书，刚好可以从 fitzgerald 还有 maugham过来换换脑子。
