E.R.A. Sewter was a well-known Byzantine scholar.

Peter Frankopan is a senior research fellow at Worcester College, Oxford, and the author of a major monograph about Byzantium in the eleventh and twelfth centuries based on The Alexiad.

Komnenian朝代的Alexios I的战争史诗。其中有意思的Alexios与诺曼领袖Robert Guiscard的战争和对第一次十字军东征的描述。成书于Manuel为皇帝之时，12世纪中期。拉丁西方的影响深入到拜占庭宫廷。作者隐约涉及了她对当权皇帝的批评和对第二次十字军东征的看法。

一本对想了十字东征历史的人必读的书，也是精罗必读之书之一。在书中，安娜处处称呼这个被现在的人们习惯称为拜占庭帝国的国家为罗马，这个国家的人是罗马人。一个延续了近两千年的国度。和其它历史资料不同的是安娜作为一名女性，其笔调带有女性独有的感性。你可以感受到她的爱，她的恨。她的情感细腻而真实地融入了书的每一章、每一行。当读到她写到她父亲在death bed时的段落，皇后的绝望和不放弃，公主们带着希望的绝望，头通过安娜的笔展现在我的眼前，无法不让人对其父的去世感到惋惜，且因为她们真挚的悲痛而落泪。最后一册断断续续的脱漏尤其让人觉得安娜因为悲痛而笔不成调。更能回想想起前文阿列克谢戎马倥偬，少有安歇的一生。后人为之唏嘘不已。
