G.H.埃尔德(1934— ),美国北卡罗来纳大学社会学霍华德·W.奥登杰出教授和心理学研究教授,作为美国艺术与科学研究会会员,埃尔德曾担任美国社会学学会副会长、儿童发展研究学会会长、社会学研究协会会长。作为一名社会学研究者,埃尔德以其提出的关于个人发展的生命历程理论而享誉美国社会学界,其主要著述有:《大萧条的孩子们》、《生命历程动力学》、《时空中的孩子们》、《艰难时世中的家庭》、《发展科学》、《生命历程研究方法》、《大地之子》等。埃尔德先后获得二十余项杰出贡献奖、杰出成就奖等。
