著者简介

生于波兰东部小城平斯克近郊一乡村教师家庭。童年遭受二战磨难。高中毕业后开始发表作品。1951年考入华沙大学语言文学系，后转入历史系学习。1956年毕业分配到《青年旗帜》杂志社工作，同年派往印度。1957年从日本转道北京，任特派记者。从此开始了四十余年驻外记者生涯。

作为作家，他创作了二十余部文学作品，其中部分作品被译成三十余种文字，在世界广为传播，其文学成就为其带来五十多项国际国内大奖，六次提名诺贝尔文学奖。

主要著作有《生命中的另一天》（1976）、《皇帝》（1978）、《伊朗王中王》（1982）、《帝国》（1993）、《太阳的影子》（1998）、《与希罗多德一起旅行》（2004）。

没小说吸引人，基本是当时见证了历史的人们的自述，统治了埃塞尔比亚半世纪的独裁者终于1975年死了。这些服侍他的人也是既得利益者最后都是用悲伤惋惜的感情来描述的，最悲凉的莫属这句：If this revolution is good for people,i am revolution.
