The shiny leaves of the lemon plant, the
row of chrysanthemums in clay pots, the
hanging basket of English ivy--these
have come to have as much aesthetic
and emotional meaning to us as a paint-
ing or a special piece of furniture. Any
decorating magazine attests to the im-
portance of indoor plants and the life
they bring to an interior. But as we have
begun to bring the outdoors in, we have
also come face to face with problems
specific to house plants. Leggy stems,
leaf spots, leaves with brown edges,
small leaves, dropped leaves, blossom-
ing plants without blossoms--these and
others are familiar to everyone who has
tried to grow plants indoors.
