马里奥·巴尔加斯·略萨（Mario Vargas Llosa），著名作家，世界小说大师，被誉为“结构现实主义大师”和拉美“文学大爆炸”主将之一。

1936年3月28日生于秘鲁第二大城市阿列基帕。早在出生前父母即已离异，出生后一年随母去玻利维亚的柯恰潘帕，与外祖父住在一起。1945年其父母重归于好，他随母返回秘鲁，在皮乌拉定居。1946年全家迁居利马。1957年他毕业于利马圣马可大学文学系，1959年到法国深造。

略萨的第一部小说获得1962年简明丛书奖和1963年西班牙文学批评奖。1965年他的第二部小说《绿房子》问世，并获得西班牙文学批评奖和首届罗慕洛·加列戈斯国际小说奖（1972年马尔克斯以《百年孤独》成为第二位得主）。又发表了小说《酒吧长谈》、《潘达雷昂上尉与劳军女郎》、《胡利亚姨妈与作家》、《世界末日之战》、《公羊的节日》、《天堂在另一个街角》和《坏女孩的恶作剧》等。

略萨1985年获海明威文学奖，1986年获西班牙阿里图里亚斯王子文学奖，1988年获美洲金质奖章，1994年获西班牙文学的最高荣誉——塞万提斯文学奖，1999年获以色列耶路撒冷文学奖，2000年获第13届梅嫩德斯·佩拉约国际奖，多次获诺贝尔文学奖提名。在1976年第41届国际笔会代表大会上，略萨被推选为主席。2010年10月，略萨因其“对权力结构的制图般的描绘和对个体人物的反抗、反叛和挫败的犀利描写”获得诺贝尔文学奖，是1990年以来第一位获得该奖项的拉丁美籍作家。
