The information for the directory is collected by means of direct communication whenever possible. Forms are sent
to all entrants for corroboration and updating, and information submitted by entrants is included as completely as
possible within the boundaries of editorial and space restrictions. Information is provided by new entrants in
response to questionnaires. In those cases where no reply is received, data is obtained from secondary sources, and
an asterisk () is shown to the right of the institutional name. Alphabetizing in the directory is strictly letter-by-
letter. Those museums, libraries, associations and organizations which bear an individual's name are alphabetized
by the last name of that individual. Colleges and universities are alphabetized by the first word of their name,
whether or not it is named for an individual.
