Frances is twenty-one years old, cool-headed and observant. A student in Dublin and an aspiring writer, at night she performs spoken word with her best friend Bobbi, who used to be her girlfriend. When they are interviewed and then befriended by Melissa, a well-known journalist who is married to Nick, an actor, they enter a world of beautiful houses, raucous dinner parties and holidays in Provence, beginning a complex ménage-à-quatre. But when Frances and Nick get unexpectedly closer, the sharply witty and emotion-averse Frances is forced to honestly confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time.

This book gets better. It reminds me of The Idiot, but more relatable. Not that I’ve had similar life experiences like any of the characters, but the narrator Frances’ personality, sensitive and yet slow to realize her own feelings, acutely perceptive and...

definitely a very provocative novel exploring the boundary of intimate relationship:)the way sally juxtaposes various extremely complex feelings together is also fascinating. love the indifferent way she depicts things btw & i’ve learnt not to define any kind of emotion cuz i don’t wanna “impose any prefabricated cultural dynamic out of my control”

All about relationships... Frances, what does it mean for a relationship to work out? Frances迴答if two people make each other happy..."Come and get me" will Nick pick Frances up? what about Bobbi then? Never know...
