著者簡介

Casey Cep is a writer from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. After graduating from Harvard she earned an M.Phil. at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The New Republic, among many other publications. Furious Hours is her first book.

個人屬於虛構愛好者，讀這本完全是衝著Harper Lee來的（但彼時對《殺死一隻知更鳥》的瞭解僅限於Love, Simon裏反復齣現的那本小書，當然後來也買瞭《知更鳥》來讀，並得知Love, Simon的男主也要齣演《知更鳥》百老匯舞颱劇——不過這都是後話瞭）。全書分三部分，兩條故事綫，一是殺人牧師麥剋斯韋的被殺及其審理，二是想要以這起案件為題材寫一部小說的Harper Lee。其實無論案件還是寫作，結果都十分顯而易見：牧師確實殺瞭人，也確實被仇敵所殺；作傢確實進行瞭大量調查和寫作，卻也什麼“成果”都沒拿齣來——那本讓她姐姐拍案叫好的《牧師》我們至今連影子都沒見到。但個中麯摺，包括當時的社會環境、種族狀況、經濟發展乃至人與自然關係，其復雜與深遠影響遠非常人所想，讀來大開眼界。

這本非虛構非常引人入勝，三個故事相互獨立但是卻互相聯係。最期待的最後一個故事反而有點筆墨淡下去瞭。
