從比爾蓋茨的博客看到的推薦。提齣的問題沒啥問題，但是解決方案倒是有種站著說話不腰疼的感覺。自己雖然不屬於作者所說的WEIRD（Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, And Democratic），但還是屬於他想要遏製的high-skilled & immigrant群體。看的時候內心想法：自己學的這麼努力，一部分原因不就是因為想和那些曾經嘲笑我的less-educated的初高中本科同學遠一點麼。

近期最喜歡的一本書。它一上來就不管左右，幾乎鄙視瞭幾乎所有意識形態（可能除瞭實用主義）。之後像百科全書一樣，對當下各種社會問題作齣解釋。不單分析得精彩，光是對“社會問題”的選擇，都讓我想把作者引為知己——有太多的媒體忽略本質或者重要的問題，而討論雞毛蒜皮。相比於精到的分析，作者提齣的解決方案就顯得很難服人。作者認為這很難直接靠市場和宏觀調控解決，而應該重塑道德，從更高目標優化。我在讀的時候也是那種“道理好像是沒錯，但這很難讓我接受啊”的狀態。然而快看到結尾的時候，說迴“身份認同”，我有點更能接受作者的觀點瞭——對自我價值實現的追求，對親朋好友的愛，以至於對民族國傢的感情，是確實可能不完全依靠利益而真實存在的。不管他說的對還不對，這本書是一個很好的思考的起點。
