Bringing together the highlights of a decade and a half of groundbreaking research into the cultural life of media consumers, "Fans, Bloggers, and Gamers" takes readers from Jenkins' progressive early work defending fan culture against those who would marginalize or stigmatize it, through to his more recent work, combating moral panic and defending Goths and gamers in the wake of the Columbine shootings. Starting with an interview on the current state of fan studies, this volume maps the core theoretical and methodological issues in Fan Studies. It goes on to chart the growth of participatory culture on the web, take up blogging as perhaps the most powerful illustration of how consumer participation impacts mainstream media, and debate the public policy implications surrounding participation and intellectual property.

要变成詹金斯的脑残粉了_(:3」∠)_他说自己是一个media slut哈哈哈哈。对fandom的观察都很准确到位，他对媒介的看法也很乐观（尽管负面现象也没有少过，不过詹金斯很犀利地指出这是“现实”自己就有的问题，治理的根本还在于reality）。然而毋庸置疑的是，media democracy也会遭遇民粹问题，也会遭遇乌合之众的问题，甚至新媒介就在加剧这些问题；以及更严重地，异化人（例如《黑镜》、《单身公寓401-410》）。詹金斯在本书中基本没有讨论这些问题，但这恰恰也是媒介自己的reality.（当然，还因为本书其实是旧文集……）
