非常值得一读，里面虽多琐碎的细节，拖延了很久才读完，但论证还是十分清晰的，大概能猜出Beard写的部分。宗教与政治的交互，罗马与外部的交互，所谓的罗马官方宗教与magic之类的superstition，罗马宗教体系的构建，罗马的权威与控制… 早期的部分指出罗马历史与罗马宗教的历史之间的断裂性；共和国时期精英在宗教生活中的位置；界限与流动或许是理解这本书的一个方向
