When Irène Némirovsky began working on Suite Française , she was already a highly successful writer living in Paris. But she was also a Jew, and in 1942 she was arrested and deported to Auschwitz, where she died. For sixty-four years, this novel remained hidden and unknown.

评分This is relevant to our quarantine situation so much though it tells a story about France being occupied by Germany in 1940s. The loss of freedom and the yearning for certainty are still quite similar to whatever everyone has experienced recently. I love all the scenes where Lucile and Bruno gently touch each other without saying love explicitly.
