Max Boot is one of America's leading military historians and foreign-policy analysts. The Jeane J. Kirkpatrick senior fellow in national security studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, he is the author of two-widely acclaimed books: "The Savage Wars of Peace: Small Wars and the Rise of American Power" and "War Made New: Technology, Warfare, and the Course of History, 1500 to Today." 几个错误： 1、任何一种战法只是技术，不决定战争双方的正义属性。 2、把战法与身份挂钩，低端血统论而已。 3、将选择战斗形式的对象的身份凌驾在战术属性之上，这种傲慢的低端错误，非蠢，即奸。 4、既非军事著作，也不是历史著作。 5、美式土鳖意识形态，纯没屁闲格楞嗓子。

没台湾那一帮人写的推荐语里吹捧得那么好，boot 的写作目的基本就是给人一个话题，免得那些大佬们再一次闹出80年代，秘密行动委员会的头头在一次听证会上说出：“孩子，你刚才说的这些，我一句都听不懂” 的丑闻。

看过原版的就知道，本书有重要且精彩的内容，被译者阉割掉了，让整本书变成一个非常没有收藏价值的残货。如果只是删了些内容，也就罢了，本书的翻译也非常的草率、粗糙，不忍猝读，语法错误比比皆是，有时候一页之上能看到N处错误，实在令人作呕！
