指齣美國政府如何在伊拉剋戰爭中利用媒體控製和製造民意，不少觀點值得一讀，犀利流暢的論辯基於對歷史、政治和傳播學機製的透徹瞭解，可惜更像是演講稿，嚴謹不足。

一本半過時的書。過時之處在於書中提到社會權力掌控者對傳媒係統的操縱使大部分非掌權者無法發聲來相互達成共識，隻能被迫選擇媒體提供的語焉不詳的共識而不能團結起來改變社會，的局麵已經被互聯網的存在打破瞭。但互聯網創造的結社自由的條件並未帶來作者承諾的變革，反而造成瞭民間立場的無限細分，非掌權者一盤散沙的特徵不得不讓人質疑往日民間因為從未被公開討論而模糊的共識即使在傳統媒體時代被公開，是否真能給社會帶來任何區彆。本書現世意義在於書中所提的口號般無內核無意義的共識仍常見於中西方政治，民眾應當對任何不假思索就能錶態立場的議題保持警惕，因為它們通常都掩蓋瞭更多對掌權者不利的立場。一個最近的例子便是不用動腦地錶態“WH加油”和注意到那些“追責官員”的聲音的區彆。此外，媒體對曆史的重新解讀也應被民眾所警惕。
