關於《埃達》神話，最有趣的便是它有一個不可逆轉的人神俱焚的結尾。原版讀起來固然比較生硬乾澀，A.S. Byatt倒是在前兩年重寫瞭一個私人化的現代版本，明顯要更加有血有肉。
