故事其實挺簡單的，對中國農民的瞭解是有一些，但是刻畫的比較粗。整個故事太過於溫情，不夠深刻，至少對於那個悲慘的時代。讓人深思的是，土地與中國“根”文化的關係，一切源於土地。而今，土地已不是私有物，我們漸漸已經忘記自己瞭吧……

對清末民國的印象，多為名士大傢，底層的人民生活讀的隻有白鹿原等幾部。不愧是賽珍珠獲奬的代錶作。從一個常年居住中國的美國人的視角，元素熟悉又陌生，有些傢庭關係處理在今天也是很常見。現而今的年輕人很喜歡提及夢想，王龍和阿蘭沒有夢想，隻有堅韌樸實的生命，生孩子也可以自己完成，用蘆葦隔斷臍帶，生産後照樣給公公做飯。文筆也非常優美，是可以仔細揣摩的小說。薑文說拍電影的小說，隻能讀一遍認真讀，在讀就是褻瀆瞭。我猜這部可以歸入此類。

賽珍珠寫中國農民的生活寫成這樣算不錯瞭。不過還是感覺流於錶麵描寫，深度有限。

just heart-striking and inspirational! the struggling of farmers in 1930s China and how the poor family survived the big famine by leaving behind their land with great pain, returned to their LAND later. what's sparkling in this literature is, no matter how hard environment might be, human lives on, and with nature being benign, flourishes again.

看完這本我覺得我更理解我爸瞭。和《活著》一起看的，以至於情節都弄混瞭，但是很顯然《活著》更優秀。good earth得瞭諾貝爾文學奬，《活著》沒得。沒什麼可驕傲，這本有的隻是語言優勢。所以這本書告訴我，不能迷信諾貝爾文學奬。
