Well it seems that this book is well-known and gets good reviews, but I find Atwood using an affected writing style in the book. I wonder if this is because I have a strange taste...

7/10. 一個關於故事的故事，沒有盲刺客最後的柳暗花明，一切猶如最後的背麵圖案一樣，籠罩著不祥的曖昧。書名中的深意，編織的古老隱喻，醫生／聆聽者與囚徒／講述者之間的張力。自我即記憶，而記憶不過是本體編織的故事。倘若關於個體的追問就已掉入雞與蛋的悖論，那作為集閤的曆史根本就是wild geese chase。希羅多德可能從一開始就被誤解瞭，histories就是故事的集閤，沒有高於它本意的抽象含義。單一連貫又獨立於個體之外的唯有虛空而已。
