Bruno Schulz, a Polish Jew killed by the Nazis in 1942, is considered by many to have been the leading Polish writer between the two world wars.

Schulz is amazing though sometimes a bit too exuberant (which does not accord with my guts). But the stories are magical, literally. I bet Benjamin would love them had he been able to read them.
