电影感觉没说清楚，就找出书来看，结果书在情节上并没有给出更多细节。夹叙夹议的调调读起来顺畅，不乏金句。书的前半反而读起来更加有趣。后半情节反转很快，可是什么都没有讲清楚。人物模糊，事件也只是勉强的逻辑性。一直都在围绕男猪脚的一封信，这封信就造成了所有事情的发展那也太抬举此人了吧

全书最重要的一句话出自Margaret，“I left you because of us.”

就像一个由村上和东野联手写就的关于回忆的故事：如果说第一部分是弥漫着忧伤气息的挪威的森林，那第二部分就是反转不断扣人心弦的嫌疑人X的献身。同样是关于回忆，追寻逝去的时光大多数人都走不过斯万家那边。但在the Sense of an Ending这里，你会在短短一百多页里不断思考自杀，怀疑婚姻，修正记忆；你会和男主角一起经历少年心气，走过光荣之路，最后独自前行。‘You are on you own now, Tony!’
